Body art and braids

It didn't take the kids long to decide to use their arms as a canvas instead of the paper. Luckily the finger paints wash off easily from nearly everything.

I posted these two pictures because Avery's hair looks so cute in braids. It is very hard to get her to sit still long enough to get them in.

Eating cookies

The kids helped me make cookies today. Here they are enjoying the fruits of their labors. Their favorite part of it all was licking the bowl and the spoon while we waited for the cookies to get done. Cade is showing me his cookie. he wanted me to take a picture of it.

Playing at Everett's

Playing in the sandbox at Everett's house. The kids had a great time as evidenced by the massive amounts of sand they were covered in when they got out!

Eating supper together. They all shared off each others plates and when they were done, the dog went in and cleaned up the rest.

Avery

Avery was quite taken with the fudgecicle and was not happy until she had her own and she was holding it. She made quite a mess with it but did really like it!

Messy business

Friday, December 26, 2008

It is a messy process but I guess Avery has to learn to feed herself at some point. She is pretty determined to do it. It is just so much less mess if I do it!
Cade is loving hot chocolate on these cold days. Here he is giving me a cheers.

Nothing like a little pot and pan entertainment while I clean up the kitchen.

Fun with Avery at the Table

Here is Mr. Cade helping me with Avery's bib. He can be quite the helper when he wants to be.

Here is a thumbs up on supper from Avery. Looks like supper was a success!

Cade wanted to sit by Avery at the table. They seemed to both get a kick out of it.

Dogs and Corn

Jami brought over some hand me downs and it didn't take Cade long to spot the dog suit! He ran around in it saying "woof woof" for about ten minutes then was ready to move on to the next thing! Cade loves corn and is pretty glad he has enough teeth this summer to eat corn on the cob good.

Ice Cream

The ice cream sandwich Cade had was a big hit with him.

Breakfast Buddies

Cade and Rance having a bowl of cereal and some milk! It is hard to believe my little boy is going to be two years old in three weeks and Avery will be seven months old in about a week. They aren't kidding when they say time flies... whoever they are! Avery is getting to active, wanting to be into everything and put everything into her mouth. i wasn't missing that at all it was so nice when Cade grew out of that. My Dad got was at the state skeet shoot in Missoula this last weekend at got state champion. Congrats to my Dad!! He seems pretty pleased with himself as he should be.
Rance helped precondition some of the cows on Monday. They are doing it again tomorrow except Rance has to go to the Pryor Mountains for work. I am off tomorrow so I think I will take Cade and Avery up to check out the action for a little bit. Cade will think that is pretty neat I'm sure. He likes cows and horses. He won't wear anything except his cowboy boots and cowboy hat anymore. if he sees his wranglers he has to put those on too. He has discovered how incredibly useful pockets are and has been putting rocks, thankfully not bugs in them.

This is Cade making sure he gets every last drop of ice cream he can out of the container. He likes ice cream!

6 Months Old!

Avery had her six month shots on Tuesday. Poor Avery! She is 26 1/2 inches tall and weighs 14 lbs and 9 oz. She has grown seven inches since she was born! She is still in the 25th percentile for weight and the 80th for height. Tall and skinny just like her brother....I wonder where they get it from!!? She is rolling around really good these days and is all grabby with her hands wanting to explore everything and anything. She loves watching the cats and dog run around. When she is on her back she can scoot around a bit. Definitely not safe on a high surface anymore. She had done good with sweet potatoes, squash, rice cereal and last night ate all her peas! She still isn't a great napper like Cade always has been, but she does better.
Her hair is getting so fluffy, I can't wait for little pigtails..so cute!

Peanut butter

I caught Cade eating peanut butter in the living room, YIKES! He didn't get any on the carpet though. p till now he hasn't like peanut butter very well, maybe he was just waiting for me to give in and buy the creamy not the crunchy kind! And as always lately he has to have on his hat and his boots.

McDonalds Supper

Avery is liking her tummy time a lot better and is trying to scoot forward a little bit. Once she is tired she is over it. She has found her screechy voice and yesterday she would just screech over and over as loud as she could, talk about hard on the eardrums.

Rance called me from town Sunday and asked what was for supper, my answer was whatever you are bringing home. Cade was excited for his cheeseburger!

I don't start my new job until December sometime, they aren't sure yet as it all depends on when construction gets finished on the building!

Avery Starts on Solids

Avery is almost six months old and has been acting very interested in what happens at the dinner table so I introduced rice cereal last week. She did very well with it, in fact better than Cade ever did with it. He is still pretty sure rice cereal is nasty stuff. Last night I introduced sweet potatoes. So got a very surprised look on her face when I put the first spoonful in her mouth and never did quite figure out what to think of them! Notice her little tongue sticking out the corner of her mouth in the picture above. It just looked so goofy I had to post it. The bumbo chair has been wonderful and she is sitting in it really well these days.
My babysitter Landa has been gone last week and this week so I took all but Friday off this week and have been loving the extra time with the kids. I started cleaning out the closet in the office so that in a couple more months Avery can move out of the master bedroom and into her own room. I was going to make the kids share a room, but have changed my mind.

I am sure that when Cade saw this jar filled with bright red wrapped little cubes he thought he was getting something sweet or chocolaty not salty and beefy! Nonetheless he had them all unwrapped and at least half of them had been slobbered on. Good thing the jar was almost empty.

What is Blue and Messy?

A peanut M&M! Cade apparently doesn't like the peanut flavored ones only the plain! The blue he got all over does match his socks though!

Toast!

Cade likes toast for breakfast. I ask him every morning what he wants for breakfast and he says "TOAST" He is starting to get really helpful making it too. He is no longer content to sit back and let me make toast for him he has to help. Independence! Sort of. He gets mad if I don't let him get the bread out of the bag and put it in the toaster. Of course the best part is getting to push the handle down. We watch the bread toast and Cade reminds me it is hot.
Once it comes out he makes sure we get plenty of "booder" on it and cinnaman sugar. Yummy.

The Whole Family Goes to Town!

Last night Rance and I were sitting the living room when we heard the sound of the toilet lid being shut several times so I sent Rance to investigate since I was sitting in the chair with Avery. He came back laughing and said you have to see this. Cade was ripping one or two sheets of toilet paper off the roll, pretending to blow his nose and then putting it into the toilet. He would watch it get wet and if it wasn't getting wet fast enough he would push it down with his hand, close the lid and start all over. We watched him do this for several minutes until I could take it no longer and I busted up laughing.

Sunday Rance and I loaded up both of the kids and headed into town. We took a quick trip around Costco and then went to eat at the Olive Garden. This was our first time eating out together with all four of us. It went very well I was surprised. Cade was on his best behaviour.
It was so nice not to have to cook a meal or do dishes. Plus we had yummy tiramisu!

Crayons Aren't As Yummy As They Look

I was coloring pictures with Cade and left him for a couple minutes to change the laundry and when I came back he was busy spitting green crayon chunks everywhere.
