Home Improvements

Yay we finally got a patio poured in the back and one on the side of the house by the door we always use. We then had to cut the stairs going into the house off and the kids thought the stair we cut off made a great bench for them to sit on.

I also repainted the living room a much lighter color. I was very tired of the dark chocolate brown it just made the room seem so dark. I like it so much better!

Recovered the dining room chairs with a washable fabric! Much easier to clean up kid messes.

Made new pillows for the living room. This year I painted every room in the house except Cade's and finally have the whole inside of the house painted whew!

Brother and sister,partners in crime

Cade and Avery get along very well these day, not to say they don't also fight terribly but they play really great together when they have a mind to. Cade likes to help Avery get dressed up properly when they play rodeo. She usually ends up in all his clothes right down to the socks and underwear. You cannot apparently play rodeo without wearing a rodeo or a cowboy shirt, wranglers and having a hat on.

Not sure where they got the idea to put on their snow pants, but I know it was hot that day and just looking at them was making me hot. They insisted they were fine however!

Cade lately has been fighting his nap, so I tell him all he has to do is lay down and I will come get him in an hour. Though the majority of the time when I do go to get him all he does is roll over and go back to sleep for another hour or two! Then he is upset because I let him sleep to long and he doesn't like it! Ha if only I could get to sleep too long.

Avery one night decided her room was too scary because of all the owls, and she cried and carried on. Just as I was getting her calmed down and tucked into bed Cade came up with a big story about how they come to his window at night and wake him up. I replied they couldn't possibly get in the window and not to worry when he screamed, crying "but Mom, they have REALLY HARD BEAKS". After which Avery started crying about being scared again..sigh. So I gave in and asked if they wouldn't rather camp on the floor in my room. I hardly had the words out before the kids were giggling and grabbing pillow and blankets. They were off down the hall and in my room before I fully comprehended just how fully I had fell into that one. sigh again...kids

Tea Party with Daddy

Avery talked her Dad into having a tea party with her one morning. She is an early riser child and it is nothing for her to be dragging me out of bed by 5 am, hence the tea party at 5:50 :) with her Dad.

Avery is very much into tea parties right now and wants to have them all the time. She got a great tea party set from my mom and Aunt Nancy gave us another, so generally we have enough little tea cups for the whole family to participate or other kids. The tea is usually water or koolaid and then we have to have craisins or crackers to go on the little plates. Speaking of koolaid, because it can spill and stain things, I finally recovered my dining room chairs with a washable, wipe able material. Your legs might stick to it if you are wearing shorts, but I can take a rag and wipe off the playdoh, cereal, spaghetti, etc that gets mashed into it, YAY! My old method was to put the whole chair in the bathtub and soak it up and scrub all the grime out. A little time consuming and the chair was generally wet to sit on at dinner time still, so this is much better.

Catching Up

Seems like lately the kids love it if I take their picture and then they can't wait to look at it.

cade wanted to see what some of his super power moves looked like, so he made me take a bunch of pictures while he did some super power moves. I know you are impressed now!

and KA POW!

Summer has been flying by and with so few very hot days it has hardly felt like summer, not that I am complaining as I am not a fan of hot days. Though we have taken advantage of my the waterslide at my parents house at every opportunity. The kids have a great time on it.
Cade is very excited for his birthday and all he wants is a Buzz Lightyear, so I have one sitting in the closet. I am amazed Cade has not discovered it yet as it seems everytime I open the closet and put something away Buzz Lightyear will make some remark about the evil emperor Zurg, or to Infinity and Beyond. But so far he hasn't noticed. Cade did find some cars that were for Chase and just about died because he "didn't have these ones". Later he snuck them out of the drawer and took them outside to play which is where I found them. I wonder if Chase minds that Cade broke in his birthday present.
